 Position: Clinical Director

Full Time Position

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: GRCC 7 Claddagh Quay, The Claddagh, Galway, H91 WPF6

Galway Rape Crisis Centre (GRCC) is recruiting a Clinical Director who will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, clinical governance oversight, and professional assurance across all psychotherapy services, by delivering an efficient and effective client therapy service. The successful candidate will oversee and supervise a team of over 22 therapists.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ongoing development and implementation of new clinical management systems and policies and ongoing development of best practice models in relation to overall clinical service in close co-operation with the Executive Director.
  • Close management of wait lists & providing clinical management and support to our Helpline Administrator.
  • Monitoring of client safety in relation to suicide and self-harm and child protection issues and submission of child protection reports.
  • Facilitating individual monthly Counselling Case Management Meetings.
  • Facilitation of monthly group case management and adolescent meetings.
  • Working closely with the Administration team in the ongoing development of data systems.
  • Liaise with external agencies including Social Workers and the Garda as required.
  • Oversee volunteer training and to co-ordinate CPD trainings for staff and volunteers.

Post Specific Requirements

  1. To be an accredited psychotherapist with a relevant accrediting body.
  2. To hold a qualification in therapeutic supervision from a relevant accrediting body.
  3. To have management experience within a similar service and an awareness of the impact of trauma on the organization.
  4. To have demonstratable experience and understanding of the impact of sexual violence and of the support needs of individual survivors.
  5. To have excellent interpersonal, communication skills and organizational skills.
  6. To have excellent team management skills and the ability to generate effective working relationships with counselling staff and volunteer counsellors.
  7. To work within the ethos and core values of GRCC

Terms of Employment

Clinical Director – Galway Rape Crisis Centre

Lead clinical governance across our psychotherapy service, overseeing a team of 22+ therapists supporting survivors of sexual violence.

 

We’re seeking an accredited psychotherapist with a supervision qualification and strong management experience in a trauma-informed setting.

 

Competitive package commensurate to this senior role, including 29 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and pension.

Full-time position based in Galway Rape Crisis Centre, Claddagh Quay.

Volunteer Become Part Of The Psychological Support Team

Our team of Psychological Supports provide much needed advocacy and psychological support to survivors in the aftermath of a sexual assault or rape.

This is a 24/7 call out service provided by Galway Rape Crisis Centre within the Galway Sexual Assault Treatment Unit.

As a Psychological Support Team member you will be on call 3 times per month and commit to a minimum of 2-year service.

Please note that the role of the Psychological Supporter is NOT a counselling role, but one of providing crucial advocacy and psychological support.

This service would not exist without the incredible Volunteers that give so freely of their valuable time.
